FINANCE MINISTER KASAIJA OFFICIATES AT GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF INSPECTORATE OF GOVERNMENT BUILDING.

Finance Minister Matia Kasaija has said the NRM Government prioritised the construction of the Inspectorate of Government head Office building in a bid to cut on the overhead costs faced by the institution.

Kasaija said the project is fully funded by the Government of Uganda.

“I know that the work the Inspectorate of Government does is extremely sensitive requiring secure premises and adequate space which has not been possible to achieve in shared rented premises,” the Minister said.

The Finance Minister made the remarks during the ground breaking ceremony for construction of the Inspectorate of Government headquarter building at Clement Hill Road in Kampala.

Kasaija said the new building will introduce the Inspectorate of Government as a new brand to the public and also send a strong impression to the country on the IG commitment to meet its mandate.

He said Government of Uganda was grateful to Development Partners who have supported the Inspectorate of Government to reach this point in the journey towards realizing the destiny of securing the IG’s own home.

“I urge all the players in this project to exercise maximum integrity, economy and efficiency to give to the public a piece of value for money product,” said Kasaija.

He wished the Inspectorate of Government a fruitful endeavour to fight and eliminate corruption and build the rule of law and justice in public administration in the country.

The Inspector General of Government, Justice Irene Mulyagonja said the IG towers once completed will save government more than 2.5 billion shillings annually spent on Rent.

According to the IGG, the 15 level new IG Towers will have a 500 seater conference hall, meeting rooms for investigations, exhibit store, Forensic laboratory and detention facility.
