MINISTRY OF FINANCE EMBARKS ON RE-SKILLING ITS STAFF
The Ministry of Finance has concluded a training programme for its human resource on writing and Communication skills facilitated by Rostec School of Leadership and Governance based in South Africa.
The One month in-house training of more than 300 members of staff was designed to equip participants with knowledge and skills in writing formal letters, minutes and reports for effective communication.
This training was sanctioned by the top management of the Ministry of Finance after realizing that many officers within the Ministry of Finance and across the entire government had challenges in processing documents such as reports and speeches that meet the expected standards.
The training programme was attended by the different professional staff in the Ministry including Economists, Accountants, Auditors, Procurement Specialists, Management and Administrative officers.
The Minister of State for Finance in charge of general duties Dr. Ajedra Gabriel while presiding over the completion of the training ceremony at the Ministry said well trained and efficient staff will greatly support the Ministry in the achievement of its strategic objective of transforming Uganda into a prosperous economy.
“Learning is a continuous process.Organisations which do not learn and unlearn risk not matching with the modern global trends. I urge you to always be open to new and innovative ideas to address management challenges,” Ajedra said.
He urged the staff to display a high level of dedication, commitment and integrity in their work and also called upon them to uphold values that are consistent with acceptable professional, social and ethical standards in order to promote Uganda’s image.
The Acting Permanent Secretary and Secretary to Treasury, Patrick Ocailap said more trainings will be organized to improve the competence of staff across all levels. “We want to be the epitome of class as a Ministry,” Ocailap said.
